Burke, a mother to three daughters, mentioned that she initiated her photography journey by capturing images of her eldest child.
Motherhood photography, particularly focusing on breastfeeding images, has become her area of expertise.
She mentioned that she started capturing breastfeeding photography as a means to distinguish herself from the numerous photographers in Fort Worth.
While filming, Craig’s three-year-old daughter Addy started to become restless; the mother informed People magazine that she promptly decided to pause and breastfeed.
In addition, she cared for her younger daughter, Emmilyn, who was 16 months old. Burke mentioned that she paused and captured some photographs of this heartfelt moment.
“It only took a mere five minutes,” she expressed. The pictures quickly gained attention on the internet and were showcased on the parenting blog KidSpot. However, Craig informed People magazine that she does not perceive herself as a breastfeeding advocate and had no intention of conveying a message through these images.
I believe strongly that this is the best choice for us,” she said to the magazine. “I support women’s rights and the different choices moms make. Some breastfeed until their child is 7, some until 2 weeks, some don’t breastfeed at all, and that’s fine with me.
She said she didn’t plan to breastfeed Addy for over a year, but she’ll let her daughter choose when to stop.
She expressed uncertainty about the duration of the journey, stating, “I am unaware of how much longer it will take. Three years ago, I believed I had an understanding, but it turned out to be incorrect.” Burke, on the other hand, emphasizes the bond between mothers and their children through her work, rather than attempting to make a statement specifically about breastfeeding.
Perhaps their perspective on the appearance and significance will be altered, she expressed.
She mentioned being taken aback by the numerous negative comments and harsh criticism directed towards her and her clients for merely capturing the photographs.
She expressed her confusion over the tendency of individuals to utilize a woman’s body as a source of negativity and controversy. Craig mentioned to People that she will cherish the photos, as they symbolize a particularly significant period in her and her children’s lives.
