A tour guide at The Mala Mala Wildlife Sanctuary in South Africa captured a video of a bird attacking a dangerous African snake early in the morning while leading a group of tourists.
In the video, a bird is seen attacking a tree snake, one of the most venomous snakes in Africa. The snake kept trying to escape as the bird attacked its head and eyes. The bird aggressively pecked at the snake’s eyes to defeat it quickly and eat it.
The bird is known as a gray-headed bush shrike, scientifically named Malaconotus blanchoti. They are commonly found at forest edges, riverside areas, and shrubs.
Gray-headed bush shrikes are skilled hunters and specialize in hunting snakes for food. They are known for their aggressive behavior and prefer to eat the eyes and intestines of their prey.
These birds have an average size, with a body length ranging from 23 to 26 cm and a weight ranging from 65 to 99 grams. They have short, rounded wings, a black beak with a curved hook, and blue-gray legs and feet.

The bush shrike’s favorite food is the eyes and intestines of its prey.
