Even though these animals weigh around 1,500 pounds, some people are incredibly passionate about wildlife. This dedicated caregiver of untamed animals is willing to go to great lengths to protect the four bears in his care, even if it means sleeping alongside them.
Jim Kowalczik has always loved animals and worked hard to help and protect them, especially bears. Because of this, Jim and his wife Susan founded The Orphaned Wildlife Facility in Otisville, New York, a place that helps orphaned bear cubs recover and thrive.
Since 1990, the couple has cared for many sick bears. Jim has never been as close to a local animal as he is with his four favorite bears: two Kodiak bears and two Syrian brown bears.
In the almost ten years since they came to the Center, these four bears have built a special and powerful connection with their caretaker.
Their bond is so strong that Jim sleeps beside them to feel comfortable. In a series of touching scenes, this caring individual is shown snuggling alongside his four huge companions.
As you might guess, Jim and his canine companions sleep next to each other but also enjoy various activities together. Everyone seems to have fun playing in the snow.
