Bowie is a stunning cat with heterochromia, captivating the internet with his unique traits. This European Shorthair boasts mesmerizing blue and green eyes, a striking phenomenon that is wonderfully rare.
The magnificent cat resides with his owner Maria Lloret in Spain. According to her, her feline friend is “extremely playful, perhaps even a bit too much at times!” This delightful cat also finds joy in playing with other cats, even when they’re not always in the mood for playtime.
The cat’s owner knows well that the iconic David Bowie didn’t have heterochromia, yet she still chose to name her cat after him. Perhaps this name will inspire the kitty to unveil some hidden musical talents one day. For us devoted cat lovers, it’s a dream worth holding onto!
Attention: Paws’ Pads
Like many other cats, Bowie is absolutely devoted to napping and eating. “We haven’t discovered a food he doesn’t enjoy,” Maria remarked.
“When he spots the bag of treats, he starts purring right away. Oh, and his favorite toys are those little mice with things inside, so they make sounds when you shake them. It’s quite amusing to watch him play because he tosses them in the air and catches them again,” the owner shared with Bored Panda.
Bowie was discovered abandoned in a park by a nearby animal shelter when he was only 3 months old. The shelter happened to be near Maria’s seaside hometown of Benidorm, and fate brought them together.
Every cat has a playful side.
Every cat owner has witnessed this facial expression.
“My sister spotted an ad seeking a family for Bowie, and when we met him, we were smitten. Not only was he strikingly beautiful, but he was also incredibly affectionate, always purring and seeking warmth. The instant he arrived home, he devoured his food and drifted off to sleep in my arms,” Maria recounted.
Maria’s cats are all adopted rescues, and she couldn’t be happier to have them in her life. She wouldn’t have it any other way.
“Adopting an animal from a shelter rather than buying one always makes a difference,” she emphasized. “There are countless animals seeking a second chance, longing for a loving family. We make a point to promote the adoption of black cats, for instance, because we had a black cat named Louis before Bowie. Louis wasn’t very healthy initially, but with some time and care, he blossomed into an incredible companion. We miss him dearly.”
He’s a stunning cat, even when he’s obviously annoyed.
Peekaboo!
Maria explained that cats with disabilities, older cats, sick cats, and black cats are often adopted last.
“And they’re the finest companions! Older cats are more tranquil, sparing your sofa from destruction. Those with health issues will impart patience and show you the true meaning of love. And black cats will undoubtedly bring you the greatest luck!”
Maria has been contacted by some Bowie fans pointing out that the singer didn’t have heterochromia.
“As fans of Bowie, we were aware of that when we named our cat after him. However, when I looked at his face, I couldn’t imagine a more fitting name! With his blue and green eyes and the markings on his nose… it just seemed like the perfect choice.”
