As ostrich chicks hatch from their eggs, predators become interested in them. From a different angle, the leading hyena ensures its pack doesn’t go hungry. This responsibility falls on the leader.
With only two ostriches facing a larger number of hyenas, young ostriches become tempting and easy prey. Hyenas and cheetahs are both careful when dealing with ostriches. The female ostrich appeared calm as the hyenas approached.
The adult ostrich successfully fended off both the cheetah and the hyena, aiming to protect the newly hatched chicks.
His trust in the male ostrich is indeed justified. Eventually, the pack of hyenas and cheetahs are unable to reach the female ostrich and her young, shielded by the male ostrich’s protection.
