Police officers from the St. Lucie Region Sheriff’s Office in Florida were finishing up a call when they heard a faint whimpering sound coming from a septic drain, causing them to stop in their tracks.
They found a puppy about to drown. He didn’t have a home, so one of the officers decided to adopt him right away, feeling like it was meant to be.
The deputies were almost finished with their previous call when they heard faint cries from an empty lot. Many people might have ignored them, but these men didn’t.

James Getting was one of the officers who discovered the small puppy struggling to stay above water in a septic drain. The puppy was scared and tired, almost giving up before being rescued.

They gave him many baths to make him smell like a dog again, and then tried to find his family. But it seemed like he didn’t have one, and James Getting thought their meeting was meant to happen.

So he brought him home and named him Puddle, which was fitting. Now Puddle is growing up very happily and lacks nothing.
