She believes that people should have more options when it comes to giving birth to twins. While some states allow lower-risk twin pregnancies to take place outside of hospitals, not all states offer this option. This mother wanted a hands-off approach to her delivery. She carried her babies to full term and labored in whatever position felt best to her. She asked for her mom, doula, photographer, and partner to be present in the operating room. She pushed when she felt ready and didn’t get an epidural, which is often recommended for twin births. She even requested that her midwife catch her babies instead of the obstetrician.
It was a powerful and beautiful reminder of how we can and should advocate for ourselves and our babies when we enter the hospital.
