Since Lalit Patidar was born, he has had a condition called Hypertrichosis, which makes hair grow excessively on his body and face. Lalit, who is currently 13 years old and lives in India, has been nicknamed “the werewolf” by people in his community because of his hairy face. He often gets teased by strangers because of his unusual appearance.
Lalit Patidar has a condition called “werewolf” syndrome since he was born.
“Once I went to a busy town, everyone there stared at me and called me a monkey. There were even a few children who threw stones at me and called me a monster. Luckily, I had family and friends who were able to come to my rescue and protect me from such people.
Sometimes I want to have surgery to remove excess hair because I want to be friends with everyone. They don’t need to be afraid to play with me.
“Sometimes I wish I was like other children, but I can’t do anything to change my appearance. When I grow up, I want to be a police officer to take out all the thieves and criminals and send them to prison. I want to earn money to take care of my parents. They have done a lot for me and I don’t want them to suffer when they get old.
“Lalit took a photo with his parents.
Lalit’s mom, Parvati Patidar, who is 42 years old, said: “When Lalit was born, I was very surprised to see that he had a lot of hair on his body in the first half-hour. We quickly asked the pediatrician to check, and the doctor told us that Lalit had Hypertrichosis syndrome and there was no way to completely cure it.
He is a different boy but very special to me. I have five daughters, and my husband and I prayed at many temples to have a son. Our prayers were answered when Lalit was born.”

Even though Lalit has become used to her condition, she still has bad days because of her excess hair. I am facing difficulties related to breathing and vision. Lalit’s father, Mr. Bantaklal, who is currently 45 years old and works as a celery and garlic farmer, said: “When Lalit was 2 years old, I took her to a big hospital in Baroda for examination and treatment. The doctor told me that there is currently no way to completely eliminate this syndrome, but if they find any method, they will notify me.”
It is known that at school, Lalit was a good student and a very active boy who liked sports. Lalit’s principal, Mr. Babulal Makwana said: “Lalit is a boy who is quite good in studies and excels in sports. He is very popular in class and everyone cares about him.”
